I am originally from Istanbul, Turkey. I studied architecture at Istanbul Technical University and finished my master’s degree in architecture at University of Arizona, Tucson AZ. After practicing for couple years in Atlanta and Seattle, I found myself busy with kids at home. Since then I satisfy my itch for creation and design by working on small scale projects and making art in my little home studio.
I am inspired by my kids and my ever so long memorable dreams. Recently it is becoming clearer that I am also intrigued by the concepts I can’t quite define or comprehend. I find myself tackling my questions and my curiosity with my art. The ideas, that are most difficult to understand, become my fuel and inspiration for creating art.
I approach the process of art making pretty much like an architect and I visualize it in layers and categories, and I define a function for each component of my art to tell my message.
My recent interest is in printmaking. The vast world of printmaking allows me to explore my ideas from many directions. The experiments and discoveries still continue.
I am a member of (MIVAL) Mercer Island Visual Arts League for 5 years. I show my work at MIVAL Gallery all year around, and in Studio 103 in Seattle since 2013.
